A New United Methodist Church

What if....?

What if my work, family, finance, health situation changes and I can not really meet all the expectations of  a team member?

It is natural in all stages of life that things change.  Asking to step down is seen as honest self-assessment and is healthy.

That communication can be to your team leader or to Pastor Kerry.

What if I find as I get into the work needed that it does not fit my skill set or it feels like I am just doing a job, there is no passion?

All of our gifts and talents are different and sometimes we think a team is the right fit for us but is not. There are many opportunities for your energy and skills to be used. We want you to be excited and passionate about what you are doing.  These are volunteer jobs. We have enough “jobs” in our daily living, volunteer jobs should excite and satisfy.

If you feel that your participation in your team is a “job” not a passion, please feel free to talk to your team leader or Pastor Kerry.  This self-assessment is healthy for you and the church.

What if your team leader or the Focus Team sees evidence that either your passion, demands outside church or perhaps some specific skill sets are a barrier to you achieving success on the team?

Either your team leader or Pastor Kerry or a member of the Focus Team will meet with you, duscuss areas that need work and set some time lines to meet those needs.  If  there are specific things you need help with the team leader or Focus Team member will work to help you get those resources.  If, after a reasonable time, tasks are still not complete the conversation will shift to finding a better fit in the church life for you to serve. It is healthy for you and the church to address any issues in a kind and open way.  There are many opportunities for you to be a passionate servant.
