The number one role you will need to take on as a Leader at The Park is the role of a Servant.  Everything you are doing should be for the sake of helping or supporting someone else.  This is great theory and easy to remember…until something does not go your “way”!!   Instead of hitting back or grinding harder to make sure your opinion ends up being the loudest, take a deep breath and remember what you are called to do…lead…just like Jesus would lead…by example…as a servant, healing, feeding, teaching, washing feet, even laying your life down for others in many different ways.

As a ministry leader at The Park you will need to be very self-aware.  We all live through changing seasons.  Don’t wait for perfection to begin leading a ministry…you will never find a time that this ministry will not interfere with your own life!  Being a leader is inconvenient, so is being a servant!  Being self-aware means you are healthy (not perfect) in critical areas of your life…marriage, finances, family relationships, employment, personal spiritual development…if you are entirely out of balance in one area that will negatively effect every area of your life…including where you want to lead and serve.  Before you begin leading others you need to be in a season of health yourself.  Caring for parents can be overwhelming, or searching for a job if you are the primary income for your family.  Please know your limits and the season of life you are currently living in.

Lastly we would like for you to pray…a lot.  Prayer helps to discern where God wants you to lead and serve.  Simple prayers such as “God where do you want me to go?”, “Who do you want me to serve?”  repeated many times over a day, week or months will lead you to hear where God is leading you.  That’s how you can find your calling.
