A New United Methodist Church

At The Park teams are a way of doing life and behaving as a community.  One person taking on any task is a recipe for disaster.  One person trying to lug a recliner up a flight of stairs is doomed.  It’s so much easier to accomplish ministry with a team.  With a team you have a group of people all focused on the same opportunity, rather than one person going crazy trying to “do it myself” all by themselves!

A team will focus on the ministry at hand, as well as caring for each other.  It will become very natural for a team to ask, “How are you?”  A team will beat the pastor to the hospital when a member becomes ill, or brings food to the house before the announcement email is sent to the congregation.  The team cares enough and knows enough about each other to become true community.

As you lead your team into ministry remember that part of this opportunity is caring for your team itself.  If someone begins to skip out, then its up to you to follow up, hunt them down, find out what the scoop is.

Collecting a team is done with personal invitations…sign ups never work in any situation, ever, so don’t rely on sign ups to gather a team, or to gather others for an event your team wants to host…sign ups stink, Teams are the way to go!
